Hearing tests in North London

Hearing Tests North London

We offer hearing tests across the North London area, if you’ve never had a hearing test before – and you’ve never accompanied a family member or friend when they’ve had a test – you’ll want to know what to expect. So here’s a quick guide to what’s involved:

When arriving at one of our clinics your first appointment will usually take around an hour. Before we examine your ears, we’ll ask you a few questions about yourself – and answer any questions you may have. You can also visit our FAQ page here before arriving, as a question you have may have already been answered here.

When you’re happy to start, we’ll begin by playing sounds at different pitches through a pair of headphones we’ll give you to wear and ask you to press a button every time you hear a sound.

Next, we’ll ask you to wear a special headband that will test how well you hear sounds through the vibrations it makes in the bones in your skull – don’t worry. It doesn’t hurt!

To give us a more realistic indication of your hearing, we use QuickSIN, which is a speech-in-noise test that quickly and easily measures the ability to hear over the noise.

We’ll be able to see the results immediately and we’ll talk you through what they show.

If you do have a degree of hearing loss, we’ll explain the type of hearing loss you’re experiencing, what is the likely cause, and suggest what can be done to help improve your hearing. You can also read through ‘the most common forms of hearing loss explained’ on our blog page so you have a better understanding of why this hearing loss may have occurred.

If it would be in your best interests to wear hearing aids, we’ll explain the range of aids that will be most suitable for you.

If you would still like to learn more before coming in for your appointment you can read more on ‘What to expect from your hearing test consultation’ on our blog page by clicking on the link.

If you decide to go-ahead – and you’ll be under no obligation or pressure to do so – we may also take a mould of your ear canal, so that your new aid fits properly. Again, this process is completely painless and will only take about five minutes.

As they are ‘made to measure’, it can take up to two weeks for hearing aids to be made, after which you’ll need a fitting appointment, which will take about an hour.

We offer local hearing tests across North London at a range of our clinics. We’ll take care of booking a convenient date and time for your fitting and for a follow-up appointment that we like to arrange within 1-2 weeks to check that everything is well.

Further regular appointments are made as and when required at no further charge for the duration of the warranty.
